Vegetable Oil Market

Rapeseed, Sunfl ower, Groundnut move down

Sluggish trends prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Rapeseed oil moved down by almost 5%, while Sunfl ower oil
eased lower by over 3.5%. Groundnut and Cottonseed oils were cheaper
by over a percent. Linseed oil, however, moved up by over 2.50%; while
Sesame and Castor oils remained fi rm. Among imported oils, RBD
Palmolein was down by 1.76% and crude Palm was cheaper by over 4%,
while crude degummed Soyabean was down by over 5%. In solvent
extracted oils, Soyabean and Rice brans eased down by over 2% each.
Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the same period last year,
groundnut is costlier by 7% and sunfl ower is down by 46%. Rapeseed is
down by 27% and linseed is cheaper by 23%. Sesame is costlier by 13%.
Castor is cheaper by 15%, while cottonseed is cheaper by 40%.
