Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut drops; Linseed moves up

Mixed trends prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Groundnut oil fell by a signifi cant 8%, while Rapeseed,
Cottonseed and Castor oils were down by around a percent each.
Linseed oil gained almost 3%, while Sunfl ower oil moved up marginally.
Sesame oil remained fi rm. Among imported oils, RBD palmolein and
crude Palm eased down by over 2% and crude degummed Soyabean
fell by over a percent. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was down by
over 2%, while Rice brans remained steady. Comparing the prices of
some of the oils over the same period last year, groundnut is costlier by
a percent and sunfl ower is down by 42%. Rapeseed is down by 23% and
linseed is cheaper by 28%. Sesame is costlier by 12%. Castor is cheaper
by 14%, while cottonseed is cheaper by 37%.
