In his acceptance speech, Dr.
Kulkarni made a case for moving from
batch to continuous transformation of
chemicals. “It is essential for the Indian
chemical industry to start moving in
this direction very soon mainly to en-
sure sustainable manufacturing prac-
tices. To move towards continuous
manufacturing, it is essential to opt for
sustainable solvent-free manufactur-
ing, because solvents are neither reac-
tants nor products and all of it is even-
tually released into the atmosphere in
some or the other form,” he remarked.
Dr. Amol A. Kulkarni, Scientist, CSIR-National Chemical Laboratory, Pune,
receiving the award. “The tools for process intensifi-
cation are ample and we cannot delay
their implementation anymore,” he in-
formed.

Dr. Kulkarni also urged the indus-
try to tap niche areas in chemicals
like electronic chemicals, thermo-
chromic dyes, electrochromic dyes,
high value functional nanomaterials,
performance coating on lenses, etc.

That Make In India’s an empty dream With Chemistry at the root of it. And Chemists can take pride
If our industry doesn’t succeed He measured everything he did In materials that are strong and light
In making the chemicals we need. And helped to remove the lid With costs that are just right
For Chemicals are the key Of ignorance that then prevailed And provide efficient transportation
For each and every industry. And since then we have availed And GHG elimination.
Supporting industry is our goal. Of many benefits like medicine. And so I will proudly claim
