Vegetable Oil Market

Sunfl ower, Rapeseed and Groundnut down

Downtrend prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Groundnut, Rapeseed and Sunfl ower oils fell by over
a percent. Castor oil was down by just under a percent while
Sesame oil held fi rm. Cottonseed oil moved up by over 1.50%,
while Linseed oil eased up by about 0.80%. Among imported oils,
RBD palmolein was down by about 0.40%, crude Palm gained
marginally and crude degummed Soyabean fell by over 0.50%.
In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean, Rice brans and Neem oils
remained unmoved. Comparing the prices of some of the oils over
the same period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 5%. Rapeseed
is costlier by 30%, while linseed is costlier by 37% and sunfl ower
is up by 52%. Sesame is cheaper by 5% and castor is costlier by
4%, while cottonseed is costlier by 39%.
