Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut and Castor move down

The market remained fairly steady during the past week under
review. Groundnut and Castor oils fell by over 1.50%, while
Sunfl ower, Linseed and Cottonseed oils moved up by just under a
percent each. Rapeseed and Sesame oils remained steady. Among
imported oils, RBD palmolein, crude Palm and crude degummed
Soyabean held fi rm. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was down
by 0.40%, while Rice brans fell by a percent and Neem oil was down
by 0.60%. Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the same period
last year, groundnut is cheaper by 3%. Rapeseed is costlier by 37%,
while linseed is costlier by 43% and sunflower is up by 62%.
Sesame is cheaper by 3% and castor is costlier by 8%, while cottonseed
is costlier by 49%.
