Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut, Cottonseed and Castor move down

The vegetable oil market remained sluggish during the past
week under review. Groundnut and Cottonseed oils fell by over a
percent, while Castor oil was down by around 0.75%. Linseed oil
moved up marginally. Sesame, Sunfl ower and Rapeseed oils
remained steady. Among imported oils, RBD palmolein was down
by under a percent while crude Palm and crude degummed
Soyabean were cheaper by over 2% each. In solvent extracted
oils, Soyabean was down by over a percent, Rice brans remained
unmoved and Neem oil was down by 0.60%. Comparing the prices
of some of the oils over the same period last year, groundnut is
cheaper by 8%. Rapeseed is costlier by 25%, while linseed is costlier
by 36% and sunfl ower is up by 52%. Sesame is cheaper by 5% and
castor is costlier by 3%, while cottonseed is costlier by 34%.
