Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut, Cottonseed and Linseed Move down

Downtrend prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Groundnut oil dropped by over 4%, while Linseed, Rapeseed
and Sunfl ower oils were cheaper by around 3%. Cottonseed oil
slipped by almost 6% even as Sesame and Castor oils eased lower by
a percent. Among imported oils, RBD palmolein was down by over 2%
and crude Palm was down by over a percent. Crude degummed
Soyabean was cheaper by 2.70%. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean
was down by over 5%, while Rice brans remained unmoved.
Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the same period last
year, groundnut is costlier by 12% and sunfl ower is down by 40%.
Rapeseed and linseed are cheaper by 22%. Sesame is costlier by 13%.
Castor is cheaper by 15%, while cottonseed is cheaper by 38%.
