Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut gains; Castor down

Mixed trends prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Groundnut and Sunflower oils moved up in the range of
around 1%, while Cottonseed oil was up 2.50%. Castor oil was
down by a percent. Sesame, Rapeseed and Linseed oils remained
steady. Among imported oils, RBD palmolein and crude Palm
were was in the range of 3-4%, while crude degummed Soyabean
gained over 4.50%. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was up by
about 3.50%, while Rice brans remained unmoved and Neem oil
fell marginally. Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the
same period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 6%. Rapeseed is up
by 30%, while linseed is costlier by 39% and sunflower is up by
51%. Sesame is up by 2% and castor is up by 9%, while cottonseed
is costlier by 45%.
