LEVERAGING SYNERGIES
Sika sets up joint venture with Sulzer to advance plastics recycling
in construction; invests in digital concrete technology platform
Swiss construction chemicals firm,
Sika, and engineering & technology
firm, Sulzer, have signed a memoran-
dum of understanding to establish a
joint venture to advance plastics recy-
cling in the construction industry.
The joint venture, based in Zurich,
will be founded as an independent
company, with each partner holding a
50% stake. Operational activities will
commence in the second half of 2025
with pilot projects in Germany, Austria
and Switzerland. The jv will leverage
the strengths of both companies: Sika’s
expertise in polymer applications and
building materials; and Sulzer’s pro-
cess knowledge in chemical recycling.
