Vegetable Oil Market

Castor, Sunfl ower and Groundnut fi rm up

Uptrend prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Castor oil surged by over 6%, while Sunflower and
Cottonseed oils gained around 2.5% each. Groundnut, Rapeseed
and Linseed oils moved up in the range of 1-2%. Sesame oil
remained steady. Among imported oils, RBD palmolein was up by
over 2.50%, crude Palm fi rmed up by around 4.75% and crude
degummed Soyabean gained 3.75%. In solvent extracted oils,
Soyabean was up by over 3%, Rice brans gained 4%, while Neem
oil remained steady. Comparing the prices of some of the oils over
the same period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 6%. Rapeseed is
costlier by 24%, while linseed is costlier by 34% and sunfl ower is
up by 38%. Sesame is cheaper by 3% and castor is costlier by 27%,
while cottonseed is costlier by 33%. Neem is cheaper by 2%.
