Vegetable Oil Market

Linseed and Castor gain; Rapeseed falls

Prices of most vegetable oils moved in a narrow range during
the past week under review. Linseed oil was up by 1.60%, while
Rapeseed and Cottonseed oils fell by just under a precent. Castor
and Sunfl ower oils moved up marginally, even as Groundnut and
Sesame oils held fi rm. Among imported oils, RBD palmolein and
crude Palm fell in the range of 2 to 4%, while crude degummed
Soyabean was down by over 1.50%. In solvent extracted oils,
Soyabean was down by about half a percent, while Rice bran (RG-I)
was down by over a percent and Rice bran (RG-II) was up by over
3%, with Neem oil staying unchanged. Comparing the prices of
some of the oils over the same period last year, groundnut is cheaper
by 9%. Rapeseed is costlier by 33%, while linseed is costlier by
38% and sunfl ower is up by 49%. Sesame is cheaper by 2% and
castor is costlier by 10%, while cottonseed is costlier by 43%.
