Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut and Rapeseed move down

The vegetable oils market remained fairly subdued during the
past week under review. Groundnut oil fell by over 3%, while
Rapeseed oil dropped by over 2%. Sunfl ower and Castor oils
moved up marginally, while Linseed and Sesame oils held fi rm.
Cottonseed oil was down marginally. Among imported oils, RBD
palmolein was down by over a percent and crude Palm remained
steady, while crude degummed Soyabean dropped by almost
7%. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was down by about 2%,
and Rice brans fell in the range of 2-4%. Comparing the prices of
some of the oils over the same period last year, groundnut is cheaper
by 8%. Rapeseed is costlier by 31%, while linseed is costlier by 35%
and sunfl ower is up by 48%. Sesame is cheaper by 4% and castor is
costlier by 9%, while cottonseed is costlier by 43%.
