Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut, Rapeseed and Cottonseed move up

Mixed trends prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Groundnut and Rapeseed oils moved up by over 3% each,
while Sunfl ower oil gained almost a percent. Cottonseed oil fi rmed
up by about 7%, even as Linseed, Sesame and Castor oils remained
steady. Among imported oils, RBD palmolein and crude Palm were
up by around 3% and 2%, respectively, while crude degummed
Soyabean fi rmed up by 9%. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean
was up by about 4%, while Rice brans moved up in the range
of 3-5%. Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the same
period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 7%. Rapeseed is costlier
by 34%, while linseed is costlier by 38% and sunfl ower is up
by 48%. Sesame is cheaper by a percent and castor is costlier
by 7%, while cottonseed is costlier by 43%.
