       SNF, DCM Shriram and Godrej Industries commit

       investments in Gujarat


          SNF, the world’s leading manufac-
       turer of polyacrylamide, DCM Shriram
       Ltd., India’s second largest chlor-alkali
       producer, and Godrej Industries Ltd.
       (Chemicals) (GIL),  a  leading oleo-
       chemicals  company, are among three
       companies that  have made commit-
       ments to invest in chemicals manufac-
       turing in Gujarat.

          SNF,  France-based manufacturer
       of water-soluble polymers based on
       acrylamide  monomer, which  is the
       primary ingredient for many polyacryl-
       amide-based  fl occulants,  has  declared
       a Rs. 1,000-crore ($120-mn) expansion
       plan for its Gandhidham facility  in
       Kachchh district.  The investment will
       help boost total production capacity
       at the facility  from 258,000-mtpa to
       378,000-mtpa, wherein the capacity of
       polyacrylamide powder  production will
       be raised to 180,000-mtpa.

          In November 2022, SNF had
       announced that said it has acquired
       consent to produce 42,000-tpa of poly-
       acrylamide liquid at  Gandhidham.
       The company had then stated that the
       facility was already making acrylamide
       monomer (60,000-tpa, 100% basis) and
       polyacrylamide powder (60,000-tpa).

          SNF offers integrated solutions for
       chemical enhanced oil recovery (EOR),
       mining, water treatment,  ceramic,
