Vegetable Oil Market

Sunfl ower, Cottonseed, Rapeseed lead the gains

Uptrend prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Sunfl ower moved up by over 5%. Cottonseed, Rapeseed
and Groundnut oils moved up by about 4% each, while Linseed oil
gained over 2%. Sesame and Castor oils remained steady. Among
imported oils, RBD palmolein, crude Palm and crude degummed
Soyabean gained in the range of 2.25 - 3.25% each. In solvent extracted
oils, Soyabean was up by about 2.50%, Rice bran (RG-I) was up by
about 3%, while Rice bran (RG-II) was up by over 4% and Neem oil
remained unmoved. Comparing the prices of some of the oils over
the same period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 5%. Rapeseed is
costlier by 35%, while linseed is costlier by 40% and sunfl ower is up
by 58%. Sesame is cheaper by 3% and castor is costlier by 9%, while
cottonseed is costlier by 45%.
