Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut gains; Rapeseed and Linseed fall

Mixed trends prevailed in the market during the past week
under review. Groundnut oil moved up by around 1.80%, while
Sunfl ower and Cottonseed oils gained marginally. Rapeseed oil
fell by over 2.50%, even as Linseed oil eased down by about 1.60%.
Castor and Sesame oils remained steady. Among imported oils,
RBD palmolein fell by about 2%, crude Palm was down by about
half a percent while crude degummed Soyabean was down by
over a percent. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was down by
about 1.70% and Rice brans also ruled lower. Neem oil remained
unmoved. Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the same
period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 8%. Rapeseed is costlier
by 30%, while linseed is costlier by 35% and sunfl ower is up by
49%. Sesame is cheaper by 2% and castor is costlier by 10%, while
cottonseed is costlier by 44%.
