Vegetable Oil Market

Groundnut, Sunfl ower and Linseed rule lower

Downtrend prevailed in the market during the past week under
review. Groundnut, Sunflower and Linseed oils moved down
in the range of 3-4%. Rapeseed, Castor and Sesame oils fell by
over a percent each, while Cottonseed oil eased lower by over
2%. Among imported oils, RBD palmolein and crude Palm were
down by over 2%, while crude degummed Soyabean fell by over
a percent. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was down by almost
3%, even as Rice brans moved down in the range of 4.50-6.50%.
Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the same period
last year, groundnut is cheaper by 10%. Rapeseed is costlier by
32%, while linseed is costlier by 39% and sunflower is up by 51%.
Sesame is cheaper by a percent and castor is costlier by 7%, while
cottonseed is costlier by 40%.
