Groundnut gains; Castor and Cottonseed move down

The market was fairly subdued during the past week under
review. Groundnut oil moved up by almost 4%, while Rapeseed oil
eased higher marginally. Cottonseed oil fell by over 1.50%,
while Castor oil was down marginally. Sunflower, Linseed
and Sesame oils remained steady. Among imported oils, RBD
palmolein was up by about 2% and crude Palm gained about 5%,
while crude degummed Soyabean firmed up by around 1.6%.
In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean, Neem oil and Rice brans
held firm. Comparing the prices of some of the oils over the same
period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 7%. Rapeseed is costlier
by 35%, while linseed is costlier by 45% and sunflower is up by
57%. Sesame is cheaper marginally and castor is costlier by 8%,
while cottonseed is costlier by 43%.
