Vegetable Oil Market

Linseed gains; Sunfl ower and Groundnut rule lower

Mixed trends prevailed in the market during the past week
under review. Groundnut, Sunflower and Cottonseed oils
fell by over a percent, while Castor oil moved down by just
under a percent. Linseed oil gained about 2% while Rapeseed
oil moved up by over 0.75%. Sesame oil remained steady.
Among imported oils, RBD palmolein was down by 2.25%,
crude Palm fell by over 1.30 and crude degummed Soyabean
gained marginally. In solvent extracted oils, Soyabean was
up by over 0.80%, Rice brans remained steady and Neem oil
was down by 0.60%. Comparing the prices of some of the oils
over the same period last year, groundnut is cheaper by 9%.
Rapeseed is costlier by 30%, while linseed is costlier by 38%
and sunflower is up by 52%. Sesame is cheaper by 2% and
castor is costlier by 6%, while cottonseed is costlier by 34%.
